Logitech X56 Spring Mod: Adjust Stick Resistance
11/07/2026
The spring mod is one of the most appreciated tweaks on the Logitech X56 and Saitek X55. The goal: fix the stick feel — often judged too stiff or too soft out of the box — for control that suits you.
Why modify the springs?
The central spring sets the stick's centring force: the stiffer it is, the more effort to tilt the stick and the faster it snaps back to centre. Preferences vary hugely between pilots. Too stiff tires the wrist over long sessions; too soft hurts precision and neutral return.
The available solutions
Several approaches coexist. Progressive spring kits give resistance that rises with angle, great for metering small movements. Swapping in pull springs (a popular community trick) allows fine tension tuning. Some even use rubber bands for a softer return. Everyone has their recipe.
Combine with a stick extension
The spring mod is the natural complement to a stick extension: a longer shaft softens the feel, a firmer spring rebalances it. Together they radically transform your X56's feel.
